- Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for about 25 minutes or until fully cooked (internal temperature should reach at least 165°F).
- While the meatballs are baking, boil sweet potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes.
- Drain and return to pot. Add butter, salt, and pepper; mash until smooth.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine maple syrup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar (if using), and minced garlic.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
