Description

Savor the comforting blend of sweet caramelized onions and nutty Parmesan cheese atop crisp bread in these irresistible Onion Parmesan Toasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 French baguette or Italian bread (about 12 oz)
  • 2 large sweet onions, sliced
  • 1 cup grated fresh Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) for optimal crispiness.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Sauté for about 15 minutes until golden brown and soft. For deeper flavor, continue to sauté for an additional 5–10 minutes.
  3. While the onions caramelize, slice the baguette into half-inch thick pieces and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Brush the remaining tablespoon of olive oil onto each slice of bread. Generously top with the caramelized onions, followed by a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are crisp and cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  6. Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, then serve hot as an appetizer or snack.
