Description

Indulge in the rich, creamy Earthquake Cake—an easy-to-make dessert that combines chocolate cake with a luscious cream cheese filling and crunchy nuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, and water. Mix until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, beat together softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until creamy and smooth.
  4. Pour half of the chocolate batter into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture over it, then pour the remaining batter on top.
  6. Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts generously over the top of the cake.
  7. Bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (unless you hit some gooey cream cheese).
  8. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares.
