Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- Additional powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a jelly roll pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs until frothy. Add vanilla extract and mix well. Gradually combine wet mixture with dry ingredients until just blended.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly before flipping onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar. Roll up the cake tightly in the towel while warm to maintain its shape.
- While cooling completely, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Carefully unroll the cooled cake and spread an even layer of whipped cream over it. Optionally add any fillings like fruit preserves.
- Roll up the cake again without the towel and slice off both ends at an angle for presentation.
- Dust with additional powdered sugar or drizzle melted chocolate before serving.
