Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 40 Saltine crackers (enough to cover a baking sheet)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer without overlapping.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the unsalted butter and light brown sugar. Stir continuously until it comes to a boil and bubbles for about three minutes without stirring.
- Once bubbling, pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the arranged Saltines. Spread gently with a spatula to ensure every cracker is covered.
- Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for five minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
- After removing from the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips on top while it's still hot. Allow them to sit for one minute before spreading into an even layer.
- In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar with ground cinnamon, then generously sprinkle this mixture over the melted chocolate layer.
- Allow your Churro Saltine Toffee to cool completely before breaking it into pieces for serving.
