Description

Caramelized onion and apple tartlets are delightful, bite-sized pastries featuring sweet onions and tart apples wrapped in flaky pastry, perfect for any gathering or cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 2 medium sweet onions (such as Vidalia), thinly sliced
  • 2 medium Granny Smith apples, diced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Fresh thyme leaves from 2 sprigs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares or circles.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the onions are caramelized, add the diced apples, thyme leaves, and balsamic vinegar. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Place pastry pieces on a lined baking sheet. Spoon generous dollops of the onion-apple mixture onto each piece.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
