Description

Basil Pesto Cheesy Puff Pastry Christmas Tree is a festive, flaky pastry filled with rich basil pesto and gooey cheese, perfect for impressing guests at holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (17.3 oz) puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1/2 cup basil pesto
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll one sheet of puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out slightly larger.
  3. Spread basil pesto evenly over the rolled-out puff pastry.
  4. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella over half of the pesto-covered pastry, leaving space around the edges. Add grated Parmesan on top.
  5. Fold the other half of the puff pastry over the cheese layer and gently press down.
  6. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut out a tree shape with branches from the pastry.
  7. Transfer your tree to the baking sheet and brush with egg wash (beat egg and water together).
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
